The Old Cowsheds Reviews

Healey
2nd visit in 2 years, with a family of 10 ranging from 61 to 2 years old. We always receive a warm welcome and all our needs are catered for. Zoe & Steve completely get the balance right as hosts. They are always available as required. The facilties are excellent with the grounds and surrounding area providing a perfect setting.
The property facilities and owners were absolutely fantastic 1010 for everything!
Louise
Had a lovely family holiday. Lovely area. The cowsheds were very clean and comfortable. We loved watching the ducks, the alpacas and the horses. Good walking from the property for the dogs. Lovely views and very friendly owners.
We had a wonderful family get together at The Old Cowsheds. Steve and Zoe made us very welcome, including our dogs. The accommodation is perfect and the surrounding areas are stunning.
Jocelyn
First of all the setting & views were fabulous & the sunset was beautiful. We had a wonderful 4 nights. The accommodation was fine for 10 of us. It's one building divided into 2 units. Zoe's Cowshed & Steve's Cowshed, both with top range kitchen appliances. It was perfect for us, 6 adults & 4 children 6yrs to 77yrs. Lots of socialising areas. Everywhere was clean and the beds were very comfortable. The two main bathrooms were a good size & modern. One double has an ensuite which is small but but manageable. The hot tub was a great asset. Even in mid October we used the large outdoor seating area with gazebo for lunches and even one evening it has a heater and they provide plenty of fluffy blankets. We had a couple of lovely walks directly fom the farm. There were lots of chickens, cats & dogs pottering around with horses & alpacas in the adjoining field, which the children loved, they also also enjoyed the large trampoline, just across the farmyard. Steve the owner was close by and easy to contact, which was helpful. We all agreed that we would love to return again in the future. There is more to explore & enjoy.

We had a family reunion here and used both cottages. They were excellent with everything you would need in them especially in the kitchen. They are very well.presented and like a home from home. Although they are in the middle of a farm there are very clear spaces laid out for the cottages and a lovely seating area. We also made use of the hot tub which was a bonus. Steve was about if we needed anything and nothing was too much trouble. We would definitely recommend the cottages.
This was the second time we've stayed here it's a lovely property, very cosy with all the home comforts you could want. The kitchens are very well equipped. The garden is especially peaceful, loved seeing the alpacas and horses every morning. The location is great, despite being so rural it's on the doorstep to so many lovely places. We had a great time and I'm sure we'll be back again.
Rachael

A lovely week in a lovely cottage. the owners were onsite and very helpful and very nice. the cottage although remote is only a short drive from all the local attractions. the cottage was well insulated and had all mod cons and very comfortable beds. it was a thumbs up for us.
Kathryn

We had a brilliant stay over New Years Eve. Very cosy and well equipped cottages, perfect for two families or groups of friends who enjoy some privacy but also plenty of shared time. The hot tub was a real bonus! The animals on the farm enchanting and the owners couldnt have been more helpful or nicer. Superb!
We stayed over Christmas at The Old Cowsheds. The cottages were ideal for our needs, clean, cosy and very well equipped. Steve and Zoe couldnt have been more welcoming and we had much joy watching the antics of the alpacas, horses, chickens, ducks and much more. The hot tub was an extra bonus. Happy New Year Steve and Zoe from Karen and family.
What a fantastic stay we have had at The Old Cow Sheds holiday cottage. The location was stunning we were surrounded by nature and it was great to wake up to see lamas, geese and ponies and sit in the hot tub taking in the views. The cottages had everything we needed cooker, coffee maker, fridge, freezer and were extremely clean. The beds were very comfy and there was plenty of space for a party of eleven guest and 2 dogs. The cottages are well placed for walks in the Peak District, we walked for a pint at Youlgreave about 3 miles away but was also close to Matlock where we went out for cocktails and a meal. Steve the host was brilliant and recommended place to go for dinner, taxi firms and was just a text away if we needed anything. I would highly recommend The Old Cow Sheds, I can't wait to go back!
Philip
Lovely conversion of old farm buildings into a modern holiday home with everything of good quality and spotlessly clean. Steve is a great host, being helpful and informative, but in no way intrusive. The outside space is great too with a large hot tub and covered patio which beautifully captures the evening sun. Its also a wonderful place for pets and children, being safely fenced, yet with alpacas, chickens, ducks and horses being right outside. Highly recommended.
Christine
We really enjoyed our stay. There was everything we needed for a relaxing holiday. The cottages are very comfortable and well planned and the kitchens are very well equipped. The countryside is beautiful. We didnt know there was a trampoline, tree house and swings for the children so that was a lovely surprise.
Lovely location and accommodation. The animals were an added bonus. The hot tub was lovely and relaxing and house had everything we needed for the perfect holiday. Host Steve gave lots of helpful advice on places to eat and visit 1010 Thanks Sue, Ron and family x
Katherine
Lovely accommodation with an outstanding garden we absolutely loved the outdoor covered area, the hot tub and the location. Stunning! Really friendly owners who were on hand if we needed them but gave us our space too. The cowsheds themselves are beautifully decorated, well stocked and very comfortable . Having two linked accommodations worked really well for us as two families wanting to holiday together but have our own spaces. We all loved being so close to a range of animals horses, chickens and alpacas. We would definitely stay here again! Thank you Steve and Zoe.
Lovely spacious dual properties in adorable farm yard location with ducks, alpacas, horses and chickens around. Clean and well equipped.
We didnt want to leave! A beautiful clean property with everything we needed in the most amazing location. I loved waking up to the sound of sheep and watching the horses trotting around the fields. The host Steve was friendly and chatty and made us feel welcome. Would love to return one day soon!
Jennifer
A delightful venue for our family celebration. Situated in a beautiful setting surrounded by horses, alpacas, chickens and a visiting peacock. Steve was an excellent host and offered plenty of advice on the local area and it's amenities. All we lacked was decent weather!! The property would perhaps benefit from an information file containing suggestions for a few local eateries, walks and places to visit. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with 6 adults and 3 children ranging from 80 to 3 years old.
Both cowshed properties together with the surrounding patios and paddocks provided lots of room and comfort for 7 adults, 3 children under 5 and a dog. Add the location and owners, Zoe and Steve and their family and animals horsesponies, alpacas, chickens, ducklings and a dog and it was a great experience that we all enjoyed. With Bakewell, MatlockMatlock Bath and Chatsworth, amongst other places in Peak District close by it made for a great week.
The property was lovely! Overall appearance was great and the surroundings were beautiful. Owner was very polite and welcoming. Hot tub was clean and spacious, the outside area for seating was comfortable with the addition of a heater! Beds were comfortable and clean, enough storage too. Tea, coffee and sugar were provided. However we did notice that the underneath of the mat in Steves cow shed had not been cleaned properly, it smelt of sour milk. We did lift the mat and clean the area when we were leaving. The bathroom wasnt overly clean in some areas, quite dusty and the top of the extractor fan was dusty too. This didnt ruin the stay but we did expect it to be spotless for the price. With this in mind it wouldnt stop us from returning! Just feel as though this can be passed onto the cleaner
We loved our stay. Both cottages were immaculate and had everything we needed. Loved all the little touches , nice sofa blankets, loads of hot tub towels and a good range of glasses for our fave drinks! Hot tub was amazing. Couldnt have been better .
Bernadette
Great place to stay and chill out, hot tub was a hit after some lovely walks. Owner very helpful and welcoming. Horses, alpacas, chickens nearby a great hit with the kids.
Richard
We had a lovely time at The Old Cowsheds. Zoe and Steve were very friendly and helpful. The property is wellequipped and located close to lots of interesting places eg Chatsworth, Heights of Abraham, Thornbridge Hall. It's also a great place to access footpaths and quiet roads for walking.
Absolutely fantastic mini break for our family. The host was welcoming and generous, the property was clean and well equipped and the location was stunning. Would definitely recommend.
What a great location. Nice and quiet for a relaxing weekend. The owner was very helpful with his recommendation's. Immaculate inside and out. Would not hesitate for a return stay, only longer next time. We were a party of ten and everyone had the same opinion. Many Thanks. Wayne

This is a wonderful property fully equipped with everything you would need for a gathering away. We were a party of 9 with a dog and found the space comfortable and relaxing. The surrounding farm and animals were a joy to watch each morning. The setup if fabulous with the ability to all be together or be off by yourself for a bit. Little touches like the hot tub towels really made life easy so much appreciated. The local walks were also great with very little traffic. Having a 5 year old with lots of energy we felt extremely safe both at the cow sheds and when out and about. We would highly recommend this property and look forward to returning soon
The properties were immaculate, spacious and comfortable. Unfortunately, the tv in Steve's cowshed had alot of interference. In Zoe's cowshed as it was very windy due to the storm the door was very drafty. Steve and Zoe were very helpful and friendly and when we were a little lost Steve gave us fresh directions. We would stay there again
An amazing place. Owners on site but do not feel overlooked. If you need anything they are there but never mither Steve. Dry kindly put our shopping away as it arrived early put away orderly too Hot tub is fabulous and amenities all of high standard and plenty of them. We would definitely return. Only tiny feedback if a connecting door inside could be done that would be so much better, walking to each half outside isnt a choice but thats just my suggestion
Connor
The property is wonderfully kept and located in a great spot near bakewell. Zoe and Steve couldn't do enough for us and made sure our break over New Years eve went smoothly. The alpacas and the peony were cute.
Couldn't fault anything, beautiful place, fabulous accommodation set over to cottages , clean and homely, owners couldn't do enough for you. local drive to areas such as chatsworth , matlock and bakewell, highly recommend we will definitely be going back,
A fabulous property in a beautiful location, the property has everything you need and more! with the added bonus of a large hot tub. The owners were really helpful and friendly throughout our stay and we will definitely return. Loved it!
A group of us stayed at the Old Cowsheds for a long weekend. The cottage is lovely clean, comfortable and very well equipped. It was a great bonus to have the Hot Tub and outside eating areas in the garden. We very much enjoyed our weekend.
Jackie
A great place to stay in a lovely location. Easy access to wonderful walks and then relaxing, cooking, eating and pampering ourselves in the hot tub back at the Cowsheds. The owners, Steve and Zoe, were very helpful and friendly.
The cottages were absolutely perfect for our family gathering of nine people. The properties were extremely clean and comfortable. The kitchens were well stocked with crockery, cutlery, pots and pans. Outdoor seating areas were plentiful to take in the stunning setting. The owners made us feel very welcome. We would highly recommend these properties.
The owners could not of been more helpful and accommodating, even recommending ... The owners could not of been more helpful and accommodating, even recommending local places to visit and to eat, we stayed as a family for my daughters 18th birthday and could not of wished for a better family gathering, will 100 be back
