Oakwood House Reviews

Oakwood House is in a perfect location to access the Peak District. The property is very spacious, light and airy. The beds are extremely comfortable, chargers at the bedside, the towels fluffy and each ensuite very efficient. We were pleased that each bedroom had a fan which was very welcome during the heatwave, and blinds. The welcome pack was a nice addition and property information and local recommendations very informative. The kitchen is very well equipped with ample crockery and utensils, and there is plenty of seating in the open plan living and dining area. The garden area is equally well laid out with a barbecue, lots of outdoor seating areas and a sizeable lawn with wonderful views. Overall the property is very well maintained, extremely clean and was a wonderful base for our multi generational get together. Thank you!

We loved Oakwood House. We were 5 so everyone had a room and bathroom to themselves. Beds were super comfortable. Kitchen well equipped. Living area spacious and homely. It was warm although the downstairs bedrooms were a bit cool. At times too warm upstairs and we never got the hang of the thermostats. It was near to so many interesting places and the local pub was great. One of our best trips ever.

Lovely property in a great relaxing village location. Clean, well maintained property with even the little things thought of charging cables in all the rooms and fully equipped kitchen The Gate Inn is a short 5 minute walk and is a great place to eat or just pop for a drink. If visiting for a special occasion, we would recommend contacting fox fine dining for a great value private dining experience!
This property was perfect for oor weekend , joining together with friends. The facilities were of high quality and everything you could need. All the bedrooms were beautifully designed with smart TV. Excellent walking near by which was perfect. We would certainly come back if it was available.
Amazing house, a thoughtfully created, multigenerationalfriendly space. Warm, bright, spacious and well equipped. Some lovely helpful touches such as phone chargers in every room, great range of games and a generous welcome pack. Lost one star for comfort as whilst they were fine if you slouched in them , we found the sofas quite lowbacked with limited neck support if you tried to sit up in them but that could be our age!
Absolutely fantastic property, warm, spacious, clean, practical, well equipped loved everything the cottage is in a lovely spot near to 2 local pubs. Had lovely country walks close by and about 40 minute walk into Matlock . Without doubt we will be returning,

Oakwood House is a brilliant house for a get together. This is the second time my friends and I have stayed here for our annual get together and I doubt it will be our last. It's really well appointed, very clean and has everything you could wish for apart from a whisk to whisk my eggs
Our second stay at Oakwood, our ladies annual trip away, what a lovely house, very spacious, clean, comfortable, relaxing, high standard of all conveniences. All bedrooms so spacious, bathrooms, modern, large and well equipped. You would enjoy your stay at Oakwood of that I have no doubt. Im sure we will be returning.

Very comfortable & well equipped house. Wonderful for a family occasion. Accommodated three generations in relaxed comfort. Tastefully furnished & in a lovely setting. Very convenient for sight seeing & walking in the area.
Jonathan
2nd Year we have stayed here with 10 adults plenty of room and really good facilities. The 2 pubs close by and easy access to the lakes made it a simple choice to come back 2 years in a row.

A lovely property but not perfect as you would expect. Large window blind down broken with outside widow broken would have been nice to have been notified before arrival as darkened the room. A property of this standard should have had a Coffee Machine. An automatic outside light would have been an asset to show the step up to the front door. Hand wash in bathroom where almost empty and no bags to put used bedding in at end of our visit.

Oakwood House was great. We were there for a family get together with 3 generations from 1 year old to much older and it suited us all so well. The bedrooms were spacious and comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped and had everything we needed to make a good meal. The living space gave us the space to play games and sit down together. We were in contact with the hosts before we arrived and asked if a barbecue could be provided and they arranged this for us. Communication was fantastic. It felt that, if possible, they would try to meet our requests. We had a great time in a great house in a lovely location. We would definitely consider coming back again in the future.
We stayed here last year as was so impressed we came back but this time it was nowhere near as clean as last year! Dirty oven Floors not clean, dirty footprints on the floor and dirty toilet in the teal room. One of the controls to the blinds hanging off by the dinner table. Patio area needs a good clean up and a broken broom by the dog wash. Plants in the garden neglected and lots of weeds which lets this beautiful property down. Nice to see a new gate to the side but should be a taller gate with a lock! Windows in the teal room and bronze room will not stay open either. Not impressed this time Im afraid.

Beautiful home perfect for our needs. Will definitely be back.
The property was clean, tidy and well equipped. We were impressed with the quality of the furnishing and fittings. We couldnt fault it at all. It was lovely and in a perfect location with plenty of choice for places to visit. The LewisWhitehouse family
Lovely property ideal for our purpose of 4 couples meeting up for a short break, going for walks and eating out.
Stunning property with awesome views, made for a relaxing weekend that wasnt long enough
Lovely house in a great location
Was a lovely big specious house. And we enjoyed our stay there. Just a few things was wee bit of a nuisance, was the shower in the master bedroom kept blocking, which ment one of us had to use another shower in another members room. Also two other shower doors were letting out water aswell. Overall we enjoyed our stay. Ps. I did report the master bedroom problem. And did say they would report it to maintenance team, but we were expecting someone to come out during our stay. Thanks. John Lannigan.
Top class accommodation in a great location!
Superb modern design house with lots of sunshine,! Views and garden. We noticed one small problem, the floor and daily living has no toilet , For older people climbing steep stairs and it can be distracting.
Exceptional ! Beautifully presented, high quality simply perfect for what we needed. The owner is delightfulwe met Alan couple of times including at the gate Inn where he had a bottle of wine gifted to our table
This house was amazing! We loved our stay here and would highly recommend it. Everything you could need is there. If we ever return to the area we would definitely book again.
A spacious stylish house with high quality furniture and fittings. Quiet location in a pretty village handy for walks, attractions and a good pub. Super showers, very comfy beds in a variety of configurations. A bath in one en suitegood for young children. Plenty of storage. A very well equipped kitchen with just about everything a large self catering group might need could do with a sieve and some serving spoons please. Plenty of pans, cutlery and crockery etc. Theres a great steeply terraced garden with a warm water hose for washing the dog, various sitting areas and a lawn as well as a giant rockery care needed for the very young and the older person... The living area is great for the large tv and board game playing. Plenty of local information. There are lots of dining chairs and four large sofas and a chair in the open plan sitting area, all of which are very comfortable. Altogether a house which is very stylish but also super practical for a large multi generation family party. Glass topped tables take the fear out of toddler meals! Talking of which there are stair gates, high chairs and cots available. A nice welcome pack, plenty of sockets even near mirrors! and charging cables are provided. Good WiFi and off street parking all go to make this a really fantastic holiday home. The owner responded very quickly and helpfully to our queries. Its on three floors so plenty of stairs to keep you fit for the peaks
Lovely property, well equipped & good facilities. Excellent location
There were 8 adults in our party, and we all thought the property was great, we really enjoyed our long weekend. We enjoyed the food in the Gate Inn and also did the Sunday night quiz at the Tavern. We have done a lot of weekends away like this as a group and some of them had a games room. The bedroom downstairs without an en suit would make a great one. Thanks for a great stay in a lovely house.
Sheila
Oakwood house was a wonderful property for my family to enjoy a special birthday celebration. The house is immaculate and all the fittings and furnishings are of a very high standard. We loved the open plan living area to be together for meals and plenty of space to relax. All appreciated the lovely bedrooms , comfortable beds and luxurious bathrooms ! The views are wonderful from the house too ! We highly recommend The Gate Inn for Sunday lunch ! Hopefully we will be back again for another family get together as it was perfect !
Fabulous property. Plenty of room for our group, very clean, well equipped and amazing views. We had a great time and would definitely recommend this gorgeous house.
A fantastic holiday let for large family groups or groups of friends. Location is great for access to all the local sites & amenities for both young & old. A good base from which to explore the Peak District, beautiful views, and easy access to local walks.
Such a lovely house, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, views were amazing. Would definitely recommend to one and all. If I could point out a couple of minor things, the main oven may have been mistakenly over looked as it could do with a clean, also more detailed instructions on turning up heating as we could not turn it up and downstairs bedrooms were cold. Would we stay again? Absolutely, infact already booked for next year.
Jonathan
Great property, everything you could ask for was on hand for the 10 family members we had. You should highlight the great view from the lounge and 2 front facing upper bedrooms. We have already booked for a week next year.
Excellent accommodation, excellent venue with a great pub nearby! Perfect for our family celebrations
A SUPERB PROPERTY THAT ABSORBEDACCOMMODATED FIVE COUPLES WITH EASE. CLEANLINESS, COMFORT AND FACILITIES WERE EXCELLENT. THANK YOU.
Great property but only fault is the garden being listed as fully enclosed when there isnt any side gate to keep dogs secure in garden.
Ideal property for multi family get together. Great outdoor and indoor space. All the facilities you need and board games and smart tvs also a bonus.
Lindsey
I would really like to give the rating a 4. 5 but no the option for this. There are a few things, the garden has not be attended to in quite some time so lots if weeds including the planters at the front. The oven was very unclean and the dining table was very sticky. We loved the house overall however the layout was great for our 3 families, beautifully appointed and had everything you could need.
