Upper Hurst Farmhouse, Hulme End

My two daughters and I decided on a staycation for our annual girls trip, and my Mum joined us for a couple of days in the absolutely stunning Upper Hurst Farm. We all had a wonderful time staying in the best holiday accommodation we have ever stayed in. The house has been renovated to a very high standard, with all mod cons but also keeping some original features, and was spotlessly clean when we arrived. We loved everything about the farmhouse, the very quiet location with stunning countryside views, the cosy but luxurious lounge with huge corner settee, the vast open plan kitchen and dining area, and the very handy downstairs bathroom with walk in shower which was well used after being in the hot tub. All 4 bedrooms had luxury comfortable beds, and we loved the high ceilings going up into the eaves with statement light fittings. The temperature dropped during our stay, but the underfloor heating and radiators upstairs soon kicked in to keep the house warm and cosy. One of the highlights of our stay was the amazing hot tub that was ready to use as soon as we arrived, and we sure did make use of it! We enjoyed exploring the local area and catching up with family who live locally in the Peak District, but found ourselves wanting to get back to the farmhouse to spend much of our time away just relaxing and chilling, and of course having yet another dip in the hot tub! We absolutely loved the farmhouse, and are already talking about planning a return trip

An immaculate property . ..so well stocked ...it was a perfect place for a family celebration. The owners were communicative and helpful.

I have just returned from a 7 night stay with my family of 4 Adults, 2 teenagers and 2 Children. The property was stunning. The boys loved the hot tub and there was ample outdoor space for us all. We even managed a game of rounders in the adjacent field. We visited Alton Towers, Waterfield leisure & mini golf and also Macclesfield superbowl, which were all within a 30 to 40 minute drive. We loved the views from the property, they were stunning. We had a lovely Sunday lunch in the Manifold Inn, about a 2 minute drive away and we also visited the Devonshire Arms, however, the receptio received on our arrival wasn't very welcoming, despite me booking this several weeks in advance, however the food was lovely. You did have to drive about 30 mins to get to the nearest supermarket, but we had taken alot of staple foods with us. The farmhouse did have many household items there, to include salt, pepper, oil, seasonings, fairy liquid, dishwasher tablets, cloths, teatowels x 2, tea, coffee and sugar. We were also greeted with a welcome pack, with fresh milk, orange juice, wine and 2 bottles of local beer. All bathrooms also had liquid handsoap to be to use and a roll of toilet paper, to get you started. We would definitely not hesitate to book again. You have a stunning property, thank you for an amazing week.

This is the best property we have ever stayed in. We are four best friends who love getting away together for a weekend, and this house was absolutely perfect for us. The property was spotlessly clean, and everything looked brand new. It was clear that every detail had been carefully considered, with all the furnishings, dcor and amenities finished to an exceptionally high standard. We genuinely couldn't have asked for anything better. The bedrooms were beautiful, the beds were incredibly comfortable, and having three bathrooms with both baths and showers was ideal for our group. There were plenty of fluffy towels provided too. The thoughtful welcome hamper was a lovely touch, with a bottle of Prosecco, beer, orange juice, milk, and, of course, the all important chocolate biscuits waiting for us on arrival. Just before we left, we had the pleasure of meeting the family who own the property. They were so warm and welcoming, and it was obvious how passionate they are about making sure their guests have the best possible stay. We would recommend this property without hesitation and can't wait to return.

We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful house for our daughters 21st and sons 17th birthdays! ! The views are amazing from the front of the house. Two of the bedrooms, hold the wow factor, in regards to the views. The house had everything we needed and the hot tub was superb. The kitchen has all the essentials such as salt, pepper, spices, oil too many to list The house is a good size and all the bedrooms were lovely. The mattresses are super comfy and our group of seven had no complaints regarding sleeping. The weather was super hot during our visit and every bedroom had a fan to help keep us cool which was good. You are within great distance from lots of beautiful Peak villages and towns. We went to Alton Towers which was about 20 minutes away and the famous stepping stones at Dovedale just a few villages away. The welcome treats left by the owners are very thoughtful and most appreciated. I particularly loved the milk and orange juice in the glass containers and the Prosecco and Ales were great for our celebration. We had the pleasure of meeting the home owners at the end of our stay and they too were absolutely lovely. We would love the opportunity to come back and stay in this house at some point in the future. One thing we did say was how It would be lovely if you could bring a well behaved dog as the downstairs is very dog friendly and the open plan kitchendiner is so big and cool enough and the garden is secure. Wish we could have stayed longer!!! Thank you for a great stay!

A Wonderful Country Retreat This is a beautifully presented and well maintained property. The renovation works which have taken place have been done to a quality standard while maintaining the charm and character of the building. The house is very spacious. We were a party of 7 including 3 children and found it very comfortable. All our needs were meet while living away from home. The owners have have been very condsidered when setting up a holiday house. Comfortable beds, beautifully clean the all the little extra bits which make the place feel cosy. We found the outside space generous, with an enclosed garden to the rear which is reassuring with children. The views from the front garden where stunning and the location is very peaceful and quiet. This property lends itself perfectly to quality together time. We hope to return in the future.

What a lovely property. Finished to a high standard and so homely and welcoming. As 6 friends who have been weekending for 15 years, this was the nicest accomodation we have stayed in. It has been so well thought out. The hot tub and outdoor space are perfect with stunning views. I really cant praise it enough. The welcome pack was appreciated and we loved looking at the photos of the farmhouse being developed and reading how it has been passed down through the family. We had a wonderful relaxed stay visiting heights of Abraham, Hartington and enjoying a stunning walk. Thank you for letting us stay

We are old friends who have an annual get together and we have just spent a long weekend at the farm house. It is everything we ask for and we are agreed that after many years of getting together at various locations it is the best place we have stayed in so far. The cleanliness, the facilities and those little touches to help make your stay memorable are first rate. Let's not forget those incredible views and that hot tub. Would we stay again, definitely.

We were 3 generations of family and we all had such a lovely time. The accommodation was ideal, spotlessly clean and very well equipped. The only thing that we missed was not being allowed to have a barbecue. We would have been happy to bring our own disposable barbecue if we had been allowed to. Walks from the door were great.

We spent a weekend at Upperhurst and couldnt have asked for a better place to stay! The cottage was decorated beautifully, it was very clean and small details were much appreciated. We would definitely reccomend to others. We would love to come back in the future.

This is our third time returning. We adore this property. The facilities, cleanliness and space are perfect. We go as a group. Family of 4 2 children plus 2 grandparents and there is loads of space for different activities in the house. Also located right near load of fab walks and the lovely village of Hartington. Planning our next visit for 2026

The best equipped place we have stayed in and the location is stunning. Every detail covered and communication with the hosts, both prior and during our stay, was excellent. Would highly recommend.

Beautiful property, stocked with everything you need the kitchen had everything and more that we needed, pots, pans, utensils fantastic! Views are outstanding and an ideal place to go and switch off for a few days! The owners are lovely and very responsive, we had a small issue with the toilet and they were there within the hour and it was all sorted! Will certainly be going back! Thank you for a great stay!

Beautiful property, high quality, very clean and well maintained. Great walks from the door and Hartington close enough to walk to, 2 shops for those last minute items. Would come again. Only downside was no flexibility for twin beds for our mums and daughters weekend.

A stunning holiday property, both inside & out. So spacious & everything done to such a high quality spec. The hot tub was wonderful. We stayed with our teenage son & two grannies, so the space & multiple bathrooms were really convenient. As for the location, beautiful views & close to lots of walking trails, with Buxton & Bakewell only about 30 mins drive. Would highly recommend Manifold Inn & Derbyshire Arms for excellent meals both less than 5 mins drive away.

What a fabulous place! As soon as you cross the threshold it's impressive. The farmhouse has been modernised to a high specification and finished with taste. Beautiful views and a plethora of walks from the door including pub stops. We were four couples and everybody loved it.

We loved Upper hirst. The house was lovely, had great facilities and was a good location for our visit to Alton Towers.

This is a beautiful property, located in the heart of the Peak District, an area unspoilt, with lovely views from the property out toward the hills. Although quiet, it is not remote. Within a five minute drive the village has a welcoming farm shop, a busy pub do book some way in advance and is within easy reach of many places to explore. And there's lots of walks straight from the front door. The property has been finished to a high standard. As a group of 4 we had plenty of space, and loved relaxing in the lounge on a very comfortable sofa and to come back to a welcome hot tub to dip into. Host was easily contactable, responsive and helpful. Kitchen is well stocked with utensils etc and you can buy things you need nearby for food etc. High quality bed linen, pillows and very snug in summer so we'd imagine the same in winter! It was lovely to see the sheep in the field opposite and around, the cows and their calves, the owls at night... we're used to their calling to each other as we live in countryside and the owner, with a smile, mentioned leaving out ear plugs in case they ever got too loud! Recommendations The Pack Horse, Longstone near Bakewell by far and away the best pub we ate at the food was exceptionally good, a nice set of choices, in line with pub prices but the quality was excellent from the homemade burger to the moroccan lamb and the bavette steak with a chimichurri sauce was a very popular dish with our group Thor's Cave a short walk from the car park, 20 minutes or so, to see into and clamber up if adventurous with a beautiful view over the valley Alton Towers a day pass was fun for the children who loved it and there was a lot to see and do but the wait times were HUGE! The only way around that is to buy a go fast pass which added considerably to the cost... otherwise we simply would not have seen been able to cover off most of the rides in the park the attached waterpark was by comparison to ones we have visited overseas a disappointment, nothing much by way of rides or adventure and a little run down to be honest For lunch Cottage Kitchen Country Cafe near Leek has a terrific range of freshly made items including quiche and soup... and was again very popular For wandering around Bakewell fun and always nice to try either the tart or cake and lots of shops to stock up on supplies For a treat the Tagg Lane Dairy does the most amazing ice creamsgelato and is well worth a stop is near Bakewell really takes it to the next level! And lastly, down in Hartington itself, near the farm shop there is also a cheese shop with a wide range of cheeses....

This was a high end property and the owners had thought of everything almost! a couple of extra chopping boards would be great, but Im being picky! The beds were super comfortable and the decor was beautiful. I would not hesitate to recommend this great cottage to any of my friends.

Fabulous accommodation & very well equipped. The surrounding area was wonderful. We enjoyed waking up to beautiful views of the hilltop from the master ensuite. We will definitely be back.

A fabulous property ideal for a multi generational family holiday. Well equipped and very comfortable. The hot tub was great as we were fortunate to have very good weather. A wonderful family break.

Absolutely stunning farmhouse with everything you could wish for. Easy to find and fantastic parking for several vehicles. Has that wow factor when you walk in with very generous welcome gifts including beer, wine, biscuits, milk and orange juice. Much appreciated. Fantastic kitchendiner providing everything you need and more. Small and large fridge, hob, oven, microwave oven, air fryer. Lovely dining and sitting area with lots of games to entertain you. Every room has a breathtaking view of the surrounding countryside including the beautiful and comfortable lounge, the four spacious bedrooms, one with en suite. Lovely large family bathroom and a further shower room on the ground floor. Last but not leastthe amazing hot tub! We enjoyed some very special family time in the hot tub after our day out in gorgeous Dovedale and treated ourselves to a Bakewell pudding whilst in Bakewell. On recommendation by the lovely owner we had an exceptional day at the Peak Wildlife Park where we were privileged to see many animals but the highlight was the two Polar Bears frolicking in the water and tussling with each other, spectacular

A beautiful house with loads of room for the 7 of us and very well equipped. It has been renovated to a high standard and was very comfortable. It's also in a great position being close to lots of lovely pubs and also cycle routes. We'll definitely come again.

The farmhouse is very luxurious and had everything imaginable to make our February stay comfortable and cosy. We particularly loved the beautiful views and how well situated the property is for exploring a lovely part of the Peak District.

A really excellent property, with all the comforts you could ask for. We six adults thoroughly enjoyed our stay there in NovemberDecember, although I imagine it would be even better in the summer, with better weather to take advantage of walks. We didn't have any negatives about this property, and if opportunity permits would have no hesitation in visiting again.

We had an absolutely fantastic time at the farmhouse. The house itself is beautiful and well stocked. The high ceiling bedrooms are superb and the views are breathtaking. The farmhouse is secluded enough that we really enjoyed the peace and quiet, having great skies at night to watch satellites and shooting stars, but also it's a short walk from attractions, pubs, gorgeous walks. The hot tub was just the perfect way to relax after a day of discovering the surroundings. Overall we very much enjoyed our stay and would come back in a heartbeat.

Absolutely stunning house! Super clean, super well kept, stunning views. We was welcomed with a box of biscuits and a bottle of prosecco on arrival which was lovely! Definitely will be making another booking! 1010 all round, highly highly recommend.

This was a fantastic stay. Everything perfect and didnt want to leave the property is so nice. Special touches added which proves how high the standards are. Real character and the hosts lovely people too. There is nothing to complain about as its so fantastic.

We had a fabulous weekend and couldnt have asked for a better house to stay in. The way the house has been decorated and everything in was absolutely fabulous. It was so comfortable and the hot tub was also an excellent addition after a long walk! We will definitely be back and cant recommend this house enough for anyone looking in this area.
